Job Purpose :

Internships at Sony Research India (SRI) are aimed at offering students with an opportunity to industry exposure and a production level project experience. The primary responsibility in this role will be to positively contribute to the growth and development of innovative technologies at SRI. During the internship, you will work closely with research scientists and other members in the team on various development and optimization tasks in speech, audio, textual, linguistic, and visual signal analysis. In addition, you’ll be expected to actively work on AI development activities daily, be it training, testing, fixing bugs or other routines for building a robust model.

For this internship program, we are seeking a talented and motivated candidate who is pursuing or has completed MS / MSc / MTech / Ph D level degree, to join us as soon as possible , for a duration of at least 6 months. For this internship program, we’re only going to consider candidates who have demonstrable skills and knowledge in Multimodal AI using audio, visual and textual modalities, with essential expertise in Multimodal-LLMs.

Remote / Mumbai / Bengaluru.

Duration of the internship :

The paid internship will be for 6 months ideally starting from November 2025.

The working hours are from 9 : 00 to 18 : 00 (Monday to Friday) fulltime.

Essential Education / Qualifications / Experience

Candidates pursuing or has completed MS / MSc / MTech / Ph D level degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Data Science, Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Applications or other closely related technical discipline, will be considered for the internship program.

Skills required :

Strong knowledge and relevant programming experience with Python, Py Torch, and Scikit-Learn and other ML and DL libraries, mainly for Multimodal AI tasks.

Expertise in Neural Machine Translation task using LLMs, especially in Low-resource languages. The candidate is expected to have experience in finetuning and applying modifications to SOTA open-source LLMs.

Demonstratable skills of successfully applying SOTA DL, i.e. LLM-based, models to multimodal problems, employing combination of audio, textual and visual data, with example in the form of published papers and journals.

Detailed understanding of network architectures, deployment modes, data augmentation and preparation, and performance analysis of model architectures.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with knowledge of algorithms, signal processing, mathematics for machine learning, probability, statistics and linear algebra.

Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication and presentation skills.

Good to have Skills :

Demonstrate research capabilities through relevant publication record in leading journals and conferences.

Impact driven mindset and ability to work and learn in a collaborative and diverse environment.

Programming knowledge of using data structure and OOP concepts proficiently in Python, C and C++.

Participation in Kaggle and other open-source grand challenge competitions.
