Job Title : Sr. Manager / Director / Head of Engineering – Backend

Location : Kolkata

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Manager / Director / Head of Engineering – Backend to lead the strategic direction and execution of backend systems that power the hoichoi platform. This leadership role is responsible not just for technical architecture and execution, but for building and scaling a high-performing engineering organization aligned with our business goals.

Key Responsibilities :

• Technical Strategy & Architecture : Define and drive the backend technology roadmap in alignment with hoichoi’s business and product strategies. Lead architectural decisions for highly available and scalable backend systems.
• Team Leadership : Build, mentor, and lead a team of backend engineers, engineering managers, and technical leads. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Cloud Infrastructure Oversight : Guide the strategic use of AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway, CloudFront, CloudWatch, etc.) to ensure operational excellence, cost-efficiency, and performance optimization.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Business teams to align technology solutions with product vision and user needs. Translate business challenges into scalable technical strategies.
• Platform Scalability & Reliability : Ensure backend systems can scale to support growing user demands, while maintaining high reliability, low latency, and fault tolerance.
• Innovation & Technology Leadership : Evaluate emerging technologies and tools. Drive adoption of modern engineering practices and frameworks that improve delivery and technical depth.
