Job Summary :
The Voyage Optimization Specialist contributes to the vessel routing process as required on a shift basis, 24 / 7 / 365. Provides assistance to the client with Route planning ‐ Voyage optimization and Weather routing within customer contracted time requirements.
Task & Responsibilities :
Assist our clients in finding the most optimal route (safest, most time-efficient or fuel-efficient route) with the help of our software to ensure the safety of the vessel, cargo and crew.
Respond to client inquires for weather conditions and other information during the voyages and have contact to both offshore and onshore staff.
Prepares and sends Wx updates to Vessels under supervision.
Willing to work during night hours on rotational basis.
Periodically monitors the 24 / 7 customer service routing phone line on a rotational basis, including night hours.
Monitor incoming and outgoing communication on common mailing tool. Shares important information with the analysts.
Monitor speed and position deviations for vessels on active routes and notify relevant parties.
Inform vessels close to hurricanes / typhoons and offer assistance.
Update routes for vessels with changed performance and notify relevant parties in case of large ETA / cost changes.
Communicates with Operators / Ship Masters as part of our quick response.
Assist in training of personnel with regard to the platform and on voyage optimization.
Contribute to the success of the team as a whole through consistent and professional work ethic, collaboration and input to process improvement.
Be part of testing and giving feedback on future development of our voyage optimization module
Qualification & Experience :
Graduation or equivalent degree
Sailing background as 2nd Officer / 3rd Officer.
Shore experience in similar role will be an advantage.
Knowledge & Skills :
Understanding of Voyage Optimization & Weather routing.
Good knowledge in any of fields ‐ Geography, Oceanography and Marine Meteorology.
Basic understanding of fuel optimization and performance management.
Strong written and spoken English communication skills to effectively communicate via email and phone.
Proficient in handling Outlook and other MS Office applications.
