Job description

Key Responsibilities :

  • Act as the key liaison between the client (Utility / Government Agency) and all PMC stakeholders.
  • Lead planning and execution of the smart metering project, ensuring alignment with project scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Coordinate with utility departments, Discoms, vendors, and contractors to ensure smooth execution.
  • Oversee procurement, logistics, and quality control of smart meters and associated infrastructure (AMI, MDAS, HES, communication networks, etc.).
  • Monitor installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of smart meters with the utility's IT and billing systems.
  • Ensure compliance with technical specifications, regulatory standards, and cybersecurity norms.
  • Track progress using project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.) and prepare regular status reports.
  • Address and resolve any on-ground issues, delays, or stakeholder concerns.
  • Guide and supervise field teams, including engineers, IT / communication specialists, and contractors.
  • Conduct periodic reviews, site inspections, and audits to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Support training and capacity-building initiatives for utility staff and end-users, if required.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics / Power Engineering or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • PMP / PRINCE2 or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of total experience with at least 10 years in smart metering, power distribution, or AMI projects.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure or utility projects, ideally in a PMC / consultant role.
  • Deep understanding of smart metering systems (AMI, HES, MDMS),
  • Skills & Competencies :

  • Strong project planning and execution skills
  • Familiarity with utility systems, SCADA, and metering infrastructure
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities
  • Vendor and contract management experience
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory and cybersecurity frameworks
  • Strong communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Project, MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, and relevant AMI / MDAS tools
