The Professor of Media Studies will lead curriculum innovation, guide research clusters, mentor faculty and students, and represent Woxsen in national and international academic ecosystems. The role requires expertise in digital media ecosystems , communication theory , cultural studies , media psychology , visual communication , or technology-driven media research .
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership & Teaching
- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Media Studies, Digital Media, Journalism, Communication, and related domains.
- Lead curriculum development aligned with emerging domains such as :
- AI-driven media production
- Media ethics & misinformation
- Media psychology & persuasion dynamics
- Digital storytelling & interactive media
- Social media analytics and digital cultures
- Supervise student research, dissertations, and capstone projects.
- Mentor junior faculty and contribute to academic quality enhancement.
2. Research & Publications
Produce high-impact research and publish consistently in Scopus / ABDC-indexed journals, edited volumes, and reputable media journals.Lead or participate in research projects on :Digital platforms, algorithms, and societyMedia influence, cognition, and behaviourCommunication technologies and public discourseDigital journalism, virtual production, or narrative designSecure external research funding, grants, and partnerships where possible.Represent Woxsen at international conferences, symposiums, and policy forums.3. Industry Engagement & Projects
Build partnerships with media houses, digital platforms, creative studios, and communication agencies.Facilitate student internships, industry projects, and media labs.Liaise with practitioners to integrate emerging trends into the curriculum.4. Institutional Contribution
Contribute to school-level and university-level committees.Drive academic events—workshops, conferences, speaker series, exhibitions.Strengthen Woxsen’s reputation as a leading centre for media research and creative innovation.Qualifications & Experience
Ph.D. in Media Studies, Journalism, Communication, Visual Studies, Film Studies, Cultural Studies, or related field from a reputed institution.Minimum 10–15 years of academic experience with a proven record of research excellence.Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, books, or media research outputs.Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and academic leadership.International exposure (teaching / research) is an added advantage.Experience with emerging media technologies, media labs, or digital storytelling platforms is highly desirable.
