Roles and Responsibilities for Sr Business Analyst - Accounting

Desired Accounting & Finance Knowledge

Core Accounting Concepts :

Strong understanding of debits / credits, trial balances, reconciliations, and journal entries.

Awareness of how financial transactions flow into trial balances and reports.

Familiarity with transaction types such as buy, sell, dividends, accrued interest, etc.

Guidance & Frameworks :

Knowledge of accounting frameworks (GAAP, IFRS) and their impact on reporting requirements.

Ability to identify when accounting guidance affects system behavior or reporting.

System & Data Flow Awareness :

Understanding of data flow across financial systems – from security master, trade transactions, to ledger posting.

Ability to connect upstream system events to downstream accounting outputs (e.g., trade bookings → expected debit / credit postings).

Candidate Profile

Experience : 5+ years in product ownership, business analysis, or accounting / finance-focused roles within financial services.

Domain Skills : Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and investment products.

Technical / Analytical : Ability to document requirements clearly, validate data flows, and perform reconciliation checks.

Collaboration : Proven experience liaising between business stakeholders and technology teams in Agile environments.

Tools : Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, or similar backlog / requirements management tools.

Education : Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. Professional certifications (CPA, CFA, CA, or equivalent) preferred.
