A Day in the Life

At Medtronic, we're transforming data into actionable intelligence that fuels informed decision-making, with a particular focus on leveraging the power of computer vision. We're seeking a talented Senior AI / Data Science Engineer to join our team and play a key role in extracting valuable insights from complex datasets, particularly images and visual data, using a blend of statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization techniques.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned :

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and domain experts to understand their challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions, with a focus on leveraging computer vision and image analysis.
• Design and execute robust data collection strategies, including image acquisition from cameras, sensors, or APIs.
• Preprocess and prepare image data, including tasks like noise reduction, image resizing, and format conversion.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand image distributions, visual patterns, and relationships within datasets.
• Develop and implement machine learning models using libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch, specifically focusing on computer vision tasks like object detection, image classification, or image segmentation.
• Build clear and compelling data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib to communicate insights from image data effectively.
• Document the entire data science lifecycle, including methodology, results, and recommendations, with a focus on computer vision techniques used.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in AI, data science, machine learning, and specifically computer vision techniques.
