Job Title : Platform Engineer
Job Summary :
The Platform Engineer is responsible for creating and managing scalable, reliable, and secure platforms that enable software development and deployment. This role involves working closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure the platform meets the organization's needs. The Platform Engineer focuses on automation, infrastructure-as-code, and continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI / CD) practices to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
Key Responsibilities :
Platform Design and Development :
Design and implement scalable and secure platforms to support software development and deployment.
Develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
Build and maintain CI / CD pipelines to automate software delivery processes.
Infrastructure Management :
Manage cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
Monitor and optimize platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
Implement and manage containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Automation and Scripting :
Automate repetitive tasks and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
Develop scripts and tools to support platform operations and maintenance.
Security and Compliance :
Implement security best practices to protect the platform and its components.
Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.
Collaboration and Support :
Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to understand platform requirements.
Provide technical support and guidance to teams using the platform.
Act as a subject matter expert for platform-related technologies and practices.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting :
Monitor platform health and performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues, including outages and performance bottlenecks.
Research and Innovation :
Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in platform engineering.
Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to improve platform capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
Technical Skills :
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with CI / CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI / CD, CircleCI).
Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Soft Skills :
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Education and Certifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Engineer, or Kubernetes Administrator.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
Knowledge of microservices architecture and serverless computing.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
Experience in managing large-scale enterprise platforms.
Additional Requirements :
Security Clearance Requirement : Given the secure nature of this role, we are seeking candidates who are Australian Citizens with an active security clearance (NV1).This requirement ensures that all team members are cleared to handle sensitive information and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of security in our operations.
Must be willing to work onsite 5 days a week
