Role Title : Senior Platform Engineer

Position Summary :

As a Platform Engineer in the Observability space, this role will focus on supporting our use of DynaTrace in the enterprise. Helping to build self service capabilities and automation leveraging DynaTrace will be a major focus. This space will look to aid infrastructure and application teams in their build out of observability including monitoring and alerting for their particular space, and introduction of preventative automation as we onboard additional features and self-service.

Job Responsibilities :

Operations :

Completes backlog items daily. These activities include monitoring the backlog, working on backlog items, responding to incident tickets received from the service desk, processing change requests, troubleshooting technical issues, and escalating as needed.

Provides support for business and technology initiatives that require assistance from automation teams.

Maintains clear, concise, and accurate documentation for processes and configurations. Ensure documentation is kept current and in the proper shared, accessible location.

Participate in 24 / 7 on-call rotation.

Development :

Develop automated infrastructure, continuous integration / continuous delivery pipelines, service pipelines, and technology capabilities that drive application development velocity and improve access to infrastructure services.

Supports efforts to improve all areas of pipeline automation and infrastructure services, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of FM's Platform capability.

Consistently collaborates and works effectively as a team within Automation Services and other groups to accomplish goals & objectives .

Security :

Maintains familiarity with FM security standards and ensures that technologies and security policies are implemented to support those standards. Communicate any identified gaps to peers and management promptly.

Stays aware of changes in the FM implementation of automation, CI / CD, and Platform areas. Identifies ways for FM to make improvements to ongoing security practices.

Skill and Experience :

3 – 5 years of experience required

Additional Experience Qualifier (optional) : 3+ years of modern application development experience with large-scale business applications in a fast-paced, iterative development environment. 3+ years of experience in public cloud 3+ years designing, developing, and implementing business applications from business concept to production.

Programming and Scripting knowledge will be important; Python, Javascript, or other scripting / functional language required. SQL, Kusto or query language skill is useful. Java / .NET experience useful but not required. Experience with Monitoring tools will be important; Experience with tools like Dynatrace, Datadog, Grafana, New Relic or Splunk. Data Analysis : Ability to analyze telemetry data, logs, and metrics to identify patterns and anomalies. Familiarity with Azure cloud platform and Kubernetes, as well as virtual server architecture like VMWare. Telemetry Pipelines : Designing and implementing pipelines for collecting and processing telemetry data.

Anomaly Detection : Setting up systems to detect and respond to anomalies intelligently before they impact users.

Specialty Skills :

Programming and scripting languages : Python, Javascript or other functional programming languages required. SQL, Kusto, or similar highly recommended.Java / .NET or object-oriented languages are useful but not required.

Observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, Grafana, New Relic or Splunk

Telemetry data analysis, including logs, metrics, and anomaly detection

Design and implement telemetry pipelines for data collection and processing

Azure cloud platform, including Kubernetes, as well as virtual server architecture like VMWare and building self-service automation for observability solutions

Ability and desire to adapt to quickly changing technologies, features, and technology landscapes
