Role and Responsibilities
DGM / GM Merchandisers act as category lead & is responsible for managing the respective category with a number of product teams and brand merchandisers to develop and implement a divisional strategy in line with the corporate objectives that will meet the needs of the target customer and deliver in excess of the planned level of profit, at the same time to seek out and convert new business opportunities for the division that will lead to long term growth. Key deliverables for the position are as following :
- To establish the optimum product mix for each store type.
- To pro-actively seek out and develop new business opportunities for the Category.
- To ensure that financial plans are developed in line with market trends, balancing risks and opportunities and to develop contingency plans to achieve net margin plan for the Category and maximize profitability while controlling overall stocks at the budgeted norms.
- To work with the design manager to ensure that there is consistent, appropriate and unique product handwriting across the Category.
- To ensure that Category space plans are developed so that the optimum ranges for each size of store are displayed while delivering the required returns per square foot.
- To ensure that the skills of all direct repartees are fully developed through a balance of training and coaching, and to manage individual performance so that full potential can be realized.
- To manage Category budgeted expenditure within agreed levels.
- Integration with internal customers (Retail, Store planning, Visual Merchandisers) and external customers (consumer).
- Regularly track Competition’s activities and consumer’s needs and buying pattern.
- To establish measures to support Omni channel business mix to category sale as per agreed budgets.
- To ensure measures to support Omni channel business mix to private brand business as per agreed budgets.
