Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Credit Manager to lead credit risk evaluation, underwriting, and portfolio performance in our payday loan segment. The Credit Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing credit policies, overseeing the loan decisioning process, managing risk across various DPD buckets, and optimizing approval rates while minimizing defaults.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and implement credit policies and scorecards tailored to payday loan products.
• Analyze borrower profiles and financial data to assess creditworthiness.
• Oversee loan underwriting and decisioning processes, ensuring quick turnaround time.
• Monitor portfolio quality, delinquencies (DPD), and losses.
• Identify trends and take corrective actions to mitigate risk exposure.
• Work closely with collections, product, and technology teams to improve credit performance and reduce NPAs.
• Review and refine risk-based pricing strategies to balance risk and profitability.
• Collaborate with compliance to ensure adherence to RBI and regulatory guidelines.
• Lead a small team of credit analysts or underwriters (as applicable).
• Prepare MIS reports and dashboards for senior management on portfolio health, approval / rejection ratios, and risk metrics.
• Continuously evaluate and integrate alternate data and automation tools to strengthen Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; MBA or CFA is a plus.
• 5-10 years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in payday loans, personal loans, or digital lending.
• Strong understanding of retail lending risk models, credit scoring, and analytics.
• Knowledge of DPD management, bureau reports (CIBIL / Experian / CRIF), and fraud detection.
• Proficient in tools like Excel and credit decisioning platforms.
• Strong decision-making, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working in a fast-paced fintech or NBFC environment preferred.
